I actually really like Ellis Island, great Philly Steak, $5 craps all day and $5 locally brewed beer - what's not to love.
Found some of the table game dealers to be a bit 'huffy'. Never stayed in the D but have stayed in Downtown Grand and the location and their new rooms are excellent.
As above, Neon Museum is great - especially at night I just try and avoid LAX immigration now.
